Rhodium plating is a process where a layer of rhodium, the rarest and most precious metal, is electroplated onto a piece of jewellery. The base metal is usually made of platinum, gold or silver and the rhodium is used to enhance durability, appearance and prevent tarnishing. From the same family as platinum, rhodium is particularly admired for its bright, reflective and white appearance.
Replating varies but for something worn regularly you may expect to replate every 4 – 6 months to maintain the beautiful bright finish.

Rhodium plating is also useful for people with allergies as it can cover metals like nickel which commonly cause allergic reactions. To maintain your rhodium plated jewellery we recommend avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals and cleaning the item gently.
